Watts says she needs more details before judging disgraced Mountie

The premier isn’t happy, the justice minister isn’t happy, but the mayor of Canada’s largest RCMP detachment says she needs more information, before passing judgment on Sgt. Don Ray.

Widespread outrage has surfaced with the news that Ray is coming to B.C. after being found guilty of disgraceful conduct for sexual encounters with subordinates in Alberta.

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts is asked how she’d react should Ray be posted in her city.

“I would have to go back and look at the entire picture. I don’t have all of the information to really make a statement. But, like I said, when you take a cursory look at it, it’s very disconcerting.”

The RCMP haven’t revealed where Ray will serve, but they do say his will be a federal posting somewhere in the Lower Mainland.
