West End MLA happy Robson Street soon to re-open

The MLA for Vancouver’s West End says it is about time the city re-opened a part of Robson Street to car and bus traffic.

The NDP’s Spencer Chandra-Herbert says he’s lobbied city and council on behalf of West End residents who are tired of being on buses routing around the closure.

“It sounds like the city is finally hearing that and looking to re-open it. It is winter, it is ugly out there, and nothing is going on there, so really they should open it up as soon as possible and make using the bus more convenient for people. So I am encouraged to hear they are considering and I am certainly in support of that.”

City Hall is recommending the section at Robson between Howe and Hornby be re-opened for vehicle traffic, but closed again for public events next summer.

Chandra-Herbert says some residents are divided over the long-term plans for that area.
