Nothing’s set in stone, but lawyers across BC are meeting Wednesday to discuss the next move to make the BC Government boost funding for legal aid. They’ve been withdrawing services since January.
Bentley Doyle with the Trial Lawyers Association of BC says the impact has been felt across the Province, “It was quite good to see people talking about it. We know we’ve got the Government’s attention on it which is something we didn’t have before and I was told by several lawyers in different parts of the Province that the lawyers involved feel united for the first time and there’s some lawyers that have been involved for, you know, 20 some odd years doing legal aid work.”
Doyle says discussions are now being held to determine how best to escalate job action in May.
