Who’s responsible for those highway signs?

There is no law that states traffic fines double in construction zones.

That, according to the BC Flagging Association despite the signs displayed in roadwork areas, “The RCMP, the Integrated Road guys, the Ministry of Transportation, nobody seems to know where those signs came from. And the police do not have the authority to actually double the fine.”

Director Diane Herback says the association is going after Justice Minister Shirley Bond to *make* it a law.

She says flaggers don’t know what more they can do to protect themselves and get drivers to slow down.

A spokesperson from the Transportation Minister’s office says staff are looking into it.
