You can’t get there by bus

Surrey’s Mayor is hopeful the new Highway One express bus over the Port Mann Bridge will stop in her city.

This after finding out that the bus will not be stopping on 156th Street as she expected.

She says the Province’s plan and Translink’s plan don’t match, saying the Province’s plan shows the bus does stop in Surrey, and the Transit authority’s does not, “Again, it just shows that there’s gotta be some continuity between the plan; there’s gotta be some continuity between how we build infrastructure. So hopefully, we can get it together and ensure that the residents of Surrey will be served.”

Derek Zabel with Translink says an exchange at 156th was discussed as part of a conceptual plan with the City of Surrey, the Province, Translink and private developers. But, he says, no agreement was ever reached or commitments made, and discussions didn’t continue. So, he says, a stop at 156th was never part of Tranlink’s plans.
