BCGEU and LifeLabs make a tentative deal

The BCGEU says after days of mediated talks they have reached a tentative agreement with LifeLabs. The B-C Government and Service Employees Union has announced it's members at six more LifeLabs locations will go on strike for two days, starting tomorrow. BCGEU ratifies deal

The BC Government and Service Employee's Union has ratified a new two year contract with the provincial government reached back in September. The unionized workers voted 64 percent in favour of the deal. The deal contains a four percent wage hike and falls within the government "co-operative gains" mandate. The BCGEU has announced contract talks with the provincial government will resume this week under a news blackout. Contract talks broke off in June and since then the union has conducted four one-day strikes and implemented an overtime ban. The union represents 25-thousand provincial government employees.
