Eight year old in hospital after being struck by car while crossing the street

An eight year old is in hospital after getting hit by a car while crossing the street in Surrey just before 6pm Sunday. It happened on 140th Street and 74th Avenue, and RCMP say the girl was in the crosswalk, the walk light still flashing. Emergency crews are dealing with a shooting at the Peace Arch Border crossing.  A Canadian Border Services Agency officer was shot in the neck shortly before 2pm and the man who shot her then  shot himself in the head. One of the three accused Stanley Cup rioters on the run from police and believed to be in the U-S has been apprehended. An 85-year-old man has died after being hit by a truck Sunday morning in Kitsilano.
