Fire crews spending night on Hardy Island

Provincial fire crews had to be boated to Hardy Island after a propane fire involving two outbuildings spread to nearby forest. Two men have been rescued off the east coast of Vancouver Island, after a large wave capsized their small boat, dumping them into frigid ocean waters. Ultralight ditches off Vancouver Island

An ultralight aircraft with two aboard has ditched in waters near Schooner Cove - that's north of Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island. Thieves are being blamed for a gas leak this morning on Annacis Island. Delta fire and police are investigating a site in the 500-block of Ebury Place where it appears thieves drilled into several gas tanks causing the fuel to leak down drains into the sewer. Evacuation alert lifted for Barnston Island

People living on Barnston Island are being told their evacuation alert has been lifted. The alert went out June 21st as the Fraser River began to threaten to overflow its banks.
