Fire damages lumber mill in Surrey

A Surrey lumber mill has been damaged by fire. Crews were called to "Fraserview Cedar Products" on 144th Street near Hyland Road around 1am and found a warehouse engulfed in flames. Chris Zettel with the City of Cranbrook says a call came into the fire department just before 9:00 pm Pacific that the Tembec planer mill was ablaze. He says the part of the property affected has been empty and idle for several years. Burns Lake mill will be rebuilt

Good news from Burns Lake... The Babine Forest Products Mill will be rebuilt. 250 people were put out of the work after an explosion and fire at the mill earlier this year. Huge fire at Ruskin mill

The call came in early Sunday morning and at the height of the battle, flames could be seen shooting up to 100 feet in the air. Eyewitnesses also report multiple explosions. Fire at the Tolko Mill in Merritt is now under control. RCMP and emergency services were called to the scene at 9 pm Wednesday. Cst. A fire at an Abbotsford lumber mill had smoke visible to much of the Fraser Valley this morning.
