The Screen Actors Guild have announced this year’s nominations for film and television. Amongst the film categories:
Best Actor: Bradley Cooper (“Silver Linings Playbook”), Daniel Day Lewis (“Lincoln”), John Hawkes (“The Sessions”), Hugh Jackman (“Les Miserables”), Denzel Washington (“Flight”)
Best Actress: Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Marion Cotillard (“Rust and Bone”), Jennifer Lawrence (“Silver Linings Playbook”), Helen Mirren (“Hitchcock”), Naomi Watts (“The Impossible”)

The Broadcast Film Critics Association
The Broadcast Film Critics Association honors, better known as the Critics Choice Awards, have announced this year’s nominations.
Leading the pack is “Lincoln” with 13 nominations, followed by “Les Miserables” with 11, “Silver Linings Playbook” with 10, and “Life of Pi” with 9. “Argo,” “The Master” and “Skyfall” all scored 7 nominations, while “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Moonrise Kingdom” and “Looper” got 5 nominations.
For the Best Picture award, the nominees are: “Argo,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Django Unchained,” “Les Misérables,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” “The Master,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

San Diego Critics Awards
Ben Affleck’s “Argo” won big at the San Diego Critics Awards, taking Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing.
On the acting front the winners were Daniel Day-Lewis (“Lincoln”), Michelle Williams (“Take This Waltz”), Christoph Waltz (“Django Unchained”) and Emma Watson (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”). “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” also took the ensemble cast award.
“The Master” took Best Original Screenplay and Best Score. “The Invisible War” scored Best Documentary, “ParaNorman” won Best Animated Feature, and “The Kid with a Bike” took Best Foreign Language Film. “Life of Pi” won Best Cinematography and “Cloud Atlas” Best Production Design.
Oscars – Best Song
AMPAS has released a list of approximately 75 songs that are eligible for Best Original Song award at the Oscars this year. This marks the largest list of eligible entries in many years in a category infamous for being so tied up in draconian regulations that many of the year’s best film-related songs simply don’t qualify.
Yet many made it this year. Amongst the highlights are Adele’s “Skyfall,” Arcade Fire’s “Abraham’s Daughter” from “The Hunger Games,” Fiona Apple’s “Dull Tool” from “This is 40”, Florence and The Machine’s “Breath of Life” from “Snow White and the Huntsman” and numerous tracks from “Django Unchained.” See the full list at Awards Daily.
