No doubt one of the biggest challenges to the production crew on the upcoming “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” was the honeymoon sex scene between Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson).
Summit demands that the film be PG-13 to capture the franchise’s regular teen audience, and the MPAA ratings board is infamously strict about any kind of nudity or sex – for example the NC-17 rating of “Shame” this week causing all kinds of online fallout.
Yet Dawn got its PG-13 rating through this time last month with the rating awarded for “disturbing images, violence, sexuality/partial nudity and some thematic elements”.
Now, Stewart herself has revealed to Glamour magazine (via Daily Mail) that the process wasn’t without a minor speed bump with the original version of the scene having to be recut.
“It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They re-cut it” says Stewart who adds that filming the scene in question was an experience – “It was so weird, it didn’t even feel like we were doing a Twilight film. I was like, ‘Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!”
