Cloud Atlas
Jim Sturgess has joined the cast of Tom Tykwer and Andy and Lana Wachowski’s film adaptation of David Mitchell’s novel “Cloud Atlas”.
Sturgess is expected to play several roles alongside other cast members like Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Ben Whishaw, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent. [Source: The Hollywood Reporter]
Magic Mike
Comedian Gabriel Iglesias has signed on for Steven Soderbergh’s male stripper ensemble drama “Magic Mike”. Iglesias will play a DJ at the strip joint and part of the gang.
He joins a cast that currently includes Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matthew Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Riley Keough. Shooting is slated to kick off September 14th. [Source: The Hollywood Reporter]
Night Moves
Peter Sarsgaard is in talks to star in Kelly Reichardt’s eco-terrorist thriller “Night Moves”.
Sarsgaard says the project is “about three people who want to blow up a dam. They are a kind of environmental terrorists. They are not thinking about killing anyone, [they] just [want to] change the world.” He adds that he’s “passionate and committed to the film.” [Source: The Playlist]
R.I.P.D.
Veteran actor James Hong (“Big Trouble in Little China”) has joined the cast of Robert Schwentke’s supernatural comedy “R.I.P.D.”. The story centers around a group of cops killed in the line of duty who form a unit of ghosts who bring unwilling souls into the afterlife.
Each ghost has an avatar which represent how each character appears to humans when they are on Earth. Hong plays Grandpa Chen, the avatar of Ryan Reynolds’ character. Yesterday came news that Marisa Miller would play the avatar of Jeff Bridges’ character. [Source: Heat Vision]
