Casting: Blagden, Langella, Benson, Ransone

Les Miserables
Stage actor George Blagden has been cast as student revolutionary Grantaire in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the musical “Les Miserables”.

Also original London stage cast members Colm Wilkinson and Frances Ruffelle are said to have small roles in the film as a kindly bishop and a “fabulous whore” respectively. Rehearsals begin this week ahead of filming in March. [Source: Up and Comers]

The Time Being
Acting legend Frank Langella has joined Nenad Cicin-Sain’s indie “The Time Being”.

The story follows a struggling artist (Wes Bentley) who accepts a series of bizarre commissions from a dying, eccentric millionaire (Langella) who may not be what he seems. Is he a monster out to destroy the artist’s life, or someone who’ll teach him the true meaning of art.

Richard Gladstein is producing and co-wrote the script. [Source: Deadline]

Spring Breakers
“Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson will join Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens on Harmony Korine’s indie project “Spring Breakers”.

The story follows four gorgeous college-age girls who rob a fast food restaurant in order to afford a spring break trip to Florida. After being arrested, they meet up with a drug and arms dealer (James Franco) who entices them to kill his arch rival.

Emma Roberts was also attached but dropped out a fortnight ago. Shooting kicks off next month in Florida. [Source: Deadline]

The Timber
Josh Peck (“The Wackness”) and James Ransone (TV’s “The Wire”) have joined the cast of Anthony O’Brien’s apocalyptic Western-thriller “The Timber” at ANA Media.

Set during the 1898 Yukon gold rush, the story revolves around two brothers torn from their family who set out to find their violent father, a twisted man who has turned the Yukon Territory into his own personal hell.

O’Brien co-wrote the story with Colin Ossiander and Steve Allrich. Scott Einbinder and Patrick Newall will produce. [Source: Variety]
