All You Need Is Kill
Bill Paxton is in negotiations to play a “tough-as-nails platoon sergeant” in Doug Liman’s sci-fi action tale “All You Need is Kill” at Warners. Shooting kicks off this Fall in London.

Tom Cruise plays a raw recruit who gets killed in action but, in Groundhog Day fashion, is reborn each day to fight and die again and again. He begins trying to train himself to be a better soldier in hopes of changing his fate. [Source: Heat Vision]

Prisoners
Melissa Leo has joined Denis Villeneuve’s thriller “Prisoners” at Alcon Entertainment and Warners. Hugh Jackman also stars in the film with shooting slated to kick off early next year.

The story revolves around a small-town carpenter whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, he takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against the big-city detective assigned to the case. [Source: Variety]

The Last Empress
Gong Li will play Empress Cixi in the China-U.S. co-production “The Last Empress” for Seven Stars Film Studios. Shooting aims to begin next October.

The story chronicles Cixi’s life and her complex relationships with Emperor Guang Xu and Imperial Advisor American Costa, both of whom shared a vision to modernize China. But due to misunderstandings, a violent revolution was sparked. [Source: THR]

About Last Night
“Magic Mike” and “CSI: Miami” actor Adam Rodriguez has joined the cast of Steve Pink and Screen Gems’ untitled remake of “About Last Night” which has just begun filming in Los Angeles.

Michael Ealy and Joy Bryant play a Los Angeles couple who move in together and then break up while fighting feelings of reconciliation. Rodriguez will play Bryant’s former lover and colleague. [Source: Variety]
