Maleficent
Young Aussie spunk Brenton Thwaites (“Home and Away,” “Slide”) has joined the cast of “Maleficent” for Disney Pictures playing the handsome Prince opposite Elle Fanning’s princess.

Shooting on “Maleficent” kicks off later this year for an early 2014 release. Thwaites will next be seen as the male lead in Lifetime’s upcoming TV movie remake of “The Blue Lagoon”. [Source: Deadline]

David Cronenberg says that his old cohort Viggo Mortensen is interested in a role in his upcoming project “Maps To The Stars”.

Devil’s Knot
“The Killing” U.S. remake star Mireille Enos will join Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth in Atom Egoyan’s West Memphis Three-themed drama “Devil’s Knot”.

“Rock of Ages” actress Julianne Hough has officially signed on for the Nicholas Sparks adaptation “Safe Haven” at Relativity Media.
