CW Plans Wonder Woman Prequel “Amazon”

NBC rejected David E. Kelley’s garish looking contemporary “Wonder Woman” pilot only a year ago, now The CW is taking a crack at a small screen version of the DC Comics super heroine says The Live Feed.

Like its long-running “Smallville” which followed how a young Clark Kent evolved into Superman, “Amazon” will essentially serve as a prequel/origin story about the character rather than showing them as an established personality.

The story follows Wonder Woman’s alter ego Diana of Themyscira, a warrior princess of the Amazons who is highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and tactical warfare.

Allan Heinberg (“Grey’s Anatomy”) will write the script but things are at such an early stage it’s unsure whether the character’s superpowers – including superhuman strength, stamina, speed, agility and even flight – will make it into the final product.
