Diane Kruger is in negotiations to join “The Host”, the film adaptation of the bestselling novel by “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer reports Deadline.
Meyer’s novel is a love story set in the near future on an Earth which has been assimilated by an alien species of benevolent parasites that call themselves “Souls.”
One such soul, the Wanderer, is fused with a dying young rebel soldier named Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan), in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth.
The Wanderer becomes obsessed with memories of Melanie’s boyfriend and her brother and sets out to track them down. Kruger will play The Seeker, who is charged with overseeing the conversion of Melanie and later pursues her.
Andrew Niccol (“Gattaca,” “The Cross”) has penned the script and is directing. Nick Wechsler, Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz are producing.
