007.com has posted up the first official still from the new James Bond film “Skyfall”.
While the previously released shot of Bond from behind hanging out by a pool was from the production, that appears to have been an on-set photograph rather than a straight up official publicity still.
This shot is more generic and along the lines of what people were expecting – Daniel Craig holding a gun and looking off screen.
The icing here that makes it work is the little touches – the rich lighting and colour along with the neon Asian lettering (shades of “Blade Runner”) as the scene is set in Shanghai. Bond himself sports a light beard giving him a grizzled appearance.
Makes a nice contrast to all those early “Quantum of Solace” shots of him looking dapper in Tom Ford suits in the middle of the desert.
