Fox 2000 is closing a deal to pick up the film rights to “The Notebook” author Nicholas Sparks’ next novel “The Longest Ride”.
The book, set to be published in September, deals with two intertwining love stories.
The first deals with a snowbound elderly man who reminisces about the life he and his late love led in their younger years just after WWII. The pair became renowned art collectors and she died of a stroke.
The second is the blossoming romance between a young art history major and a handsome bull rider. A strange occurrence allows the two generations of lovers to save each other.
Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen will produce with Sparks and Theresa Park, the same arrangement as that on the currently in theaters Sparks adaptation “Safe Haven”.
Fox 2000 beat out Warner Bros and Relativity Media for the project in a deal said to be worth $ 5 million upfront, a consistent price for Sparks films.
The aim is to have the film ready for release Valentine’s Day weekend in 2015.
