“Gnomeo” Gets A Holmes-Inspired Sequel

With last year’s 3D CG animated comedy “Gnomeo & Juliet” scoring $ 194 million worldwide, Elton John’s Rocket Pictures has already begun work on a sequel – “Gnomeo & Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes” reports Deadline.

The story this time has gnomes disappearing from the suburban gardens of England. This leads Gnomeo, Juliet and friends to enlist the help of the greatest ornamental detective in the world – Sherlock Gnomes.

Unfortunately, Sherlock is neither as brilliant nor as insightful as his human counterpart, and the threat to their world becomes bigger than they ever imagined.

The original film’s scribes Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil are also penning the sequel script while John is currently composing new songs for the film which will begin production in the Fall.

Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish are producing while the original helmer Kelly Asbury will act as a creative consultant with a new director to be selected soon.

Rocket Pictures is also developing an animated feature from the Michael Buckley novel series “Nerds” about kids who run a spy network from their elementary school, and a biographical musical-fantasy film about the life of Elton John called “Rocketman”.
