While Ron Howard‘s proposed three-film, two TV season-long adaptation of Stephen King‘s “The Dark Tower” looked to have fallen apart over the Summer, Howard’s producing partner Brian Grazer says some major budget cuts have been made which he believe will be enough to get the project green lit.
“We found a way to cut out $ 45 million out of the budget without changing the scope and actually giving it a good ending. In the $ 140 million draft, the ending wasn’t quite as satisfying. Now, we’ve got $ 45 million, $ 50 million out of the way and a really satisfying ending. It’s gonna get made” Grazer tells The Playlist.
Grazer didn’t specify if this budget refers only to the first movie, the whole trilogy, the TV series or more – or if the original plans for that layout are still intact. Howard is currently working on the racing drama “Rush”.
