Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis (“Beasts of the Southern Wild”) is said to be the big contender to replace Will Smith’s daughter Willow in the upcoming “Annie” musical remake at Sony Pictures.
The remake will be based on the musical stage play about a young girl who escapes from her orphanage and is rescued by a billionaire.
This take will be a revamped contemporary version with Jay-Z providing brand new music. Will Gluck recently came onboard to direct the project which Will Smith will produce.
Studio reps say the part has not been cast as yet. Shooting kicks off in the Fall.
