With “Arthur & Lancelot” having fallen apart, “Snabba Cash” and “The Killing” (US version) star Joel Kinnaman now has a scheduling hole which MGM is hoping to fill.
THR & Jeff Sneider report that Kinnaman has been offered the title role in the MGM remake of “Robocop” which Jose Padilha (“Elite Squad”) is helming. A deal is expected to be made quite soon as well.
The film is being described as a dark and gritty reboot of the Paul Verhoeven 80’s sci-fi classic. Kinnaman has had small roles in three recent films – David Fincher’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, “Safe House” and “The Darkest Hour.”
