Joel Surnow Has A “Small Time”

“24” co-creator Joel Surnow is set to helm “Small Time”, a semi-autobiographical indie drama which he wrote and will produce with the help of independent financing says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story centers on a used car dealer in Los Angeles who is still in love with his ex-wife and is dealing with a son that wants to forego college to work alongside his father on the lot. Surnow calls it a buddy movie about two salesmen.

Surnow co-wrote the script in 1976 when he graduated UCLA film school with a friend named Randall Wallace who died three months later. He’s come back to it at points over the years but has been getting serious about producing it only recently.

Shooting aims to kick off in April.
