Filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan (“Body Heat,” “Darling Companion”) and bestselling author Harlan Coben are teaming up for a film adaptation of the latter’s new thriller novel “Stay Close” set for release in March says Deadline.
The story deals with a past crime that returns to devastate the lives of a photojournalist, a suburban mother with a hidden past, and a homicide detective obsessed with a series of unsolved disappearances. All become immersed in a dark world of sex, secrets and shocking violence.
A script is expected to be ready by the time the book is published and will be shopped around from there.
Despite penning numerous best-sellers including the Myron Bolitar series, only one film based on the work of New Jersey-born Coben has hit the screen – Guillaume Canet’s acclaimed and popular French adaptation of “Tell No One”.
All of Coben’s books have been option or is under option but all have ended up stuck in development hell.
