“Lincoln,” “Impossible,” “Stoker” Set Dates

With the end of year schedule fairly quiet, a few key potential awards contenders are locking down dates while some more mainstream crowd pleasing efforts are also slotting into place.

Steven Spielberg’s Abraham Lincoln biopic “Lincoln” starring Daniel Day Lewis is going earlier than expected with a November 9th 2012 release being set by Dreamworks.

J.A. Bayona‘s “The Impossible” follows one family, with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor as the parents, struggling to survive through the Thailand tsunami. That film is now set to hit on December 21st 2012 in limited release in New York and Los Angeles.

Chan-wook Park’s “Stoker”, starring Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode, is skipping the awards season it seems with the announcement of a March 1st 2013 release by Fox Searchlight.

Action fans will be pleased to see RZA’s kung fu fighting pic “The Man with the Iron Fists” which Universal has set for November 2nd 2012. If you can hold off for a bit longer though, the film based on the video game series “Need for Speed” is scheduled to arrive on February 7th 2014.
