Mel Gibson’s “Gringo” Sets Date, New Trailer

Adrian Grunberg’s “Get the Gringo” starring Mel Gibson will not be going theatrical in the United States reports Reuters.

Instead DirecTV, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Icon Productions are teaming to release the R-rated film on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download platforms.

DirecTV will aggresively promote a $ 10.99 HD on-demand premiere on May 1st. Once its exclusive window is done, Fox Home Entertainment will then release the film through disc and streaming.

Gibson plays a career criminal who ends up in a tough Mexican prison when a young boy teaches him how to survive in this hostile environment.

Theatrical runs are planned for the film in various international territories. To promote the release, an official trailer was released today:
