“Miss Peregrine,” “Last Man” Script Deals

Jane Goldman (“X-Men: First Class,” “The Woman in Black”) is set to adapt Ransom Riggs’ novel “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children” which Tim Burton is circling to direct at Chernin Entertainment says Deadline.

The book follows a 16-year-old whose childhood was filled with stories his grandfather told him about an orphanage for unusual children.

The teen heads off to his grandfather’s home on an isolated island off Wales and discovers the abandoned remains of the orphanage where he learns the children weren’t just peculiar but dangerous and may still be lurking around.

Meanwhile, Paramount has set “Orphan” and “Wrath of the Titans” scribe David Leslie Johnson to adapt Daniel LuVisi’s sci-fi graphic novel “Last Man Standing” reports Variety.

Set 600 years in the future, the story follows an invincible soldier created to help Earth win a war against Mars.

After becoming a celebrity hero, he’s framed for a heinous crime by a terrorist organization. After a nine-year prison sentence, he escapes and sets out to even the score.
