More “Star Wars” 3D Prequels In 2013

Lucasfilm have announced that “Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith” are set to get back-to-back 3D theatrical re-releases early next Fall.

‘Clones’ is being pushed out on September 20th 2013 with ‘Sith’ to follow three weeks later on October 11th 2013.

The pair follow on the heels of “Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace” which scored a 3D re-release in February this year and raked in an additional $ 102 million for Lucasfilm for little-to-no outlay costs.

3D re-releases of modern classics are becoming more and more prevalent. In fact ‘Clones’ will be having its own duel of sorts next September – battling for screens against Disney’s 3D re-release of “The Little Mermaid” which opens a week earlier.
