Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (“Beasts of the Southern Wild”) was previously rumored, but now is confirmed to be starring in the reboot of “Annie” at Sony Pictures, Overbrook Entertainment and Marcy Media.
Wallis will star as the iconic big-hearted orphan in this contemporary-set update of the classic musical stage play and comic strip.
Will Gluck helms the project and is currently revising the screenplay by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna. A late 2014 release is being targeted.
James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, Jay Brown and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith will produce.
