“Crazy Heart” writer-director Scott Cooper is setting up a deal to direct and possible adapt Mark Seal’s nonfiction book “The Man In The Rockefeller Suit” for Fox Searchlight reports Deadline.
The title refers to German-born conman Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter who passed himself off as a member of the Rockefeller clan and got away with it for decades until his marriage ended and he was arrested for kidnapping his daughter.
Donald De Line is producing. Cooper’s involvement on the script depends on how the casting of an adaptation of Claire Messud’s novel “The Emperor’s Children” proceeds as it looks likely to be his next film.
