Script News: Dick, Diviners, Methuselah

Moby Dick
“Contraband” scribe Aaron Guzikowski is in negotiations to rewrite Universal’s long-gestating adaptation of Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick”.

The aim is to scale back the budget for director Timur Bekmambetov. Ahab will also be depicted as more charismatic, rather than just hell-bent on revenge. [Source: Chicago Tribune]

Paramount Pictures has plans to adapt Libba Bray’s upcoming novel into a feature with Bray herself attached to provide the screenplay.

The story follows a young girl shipped to New York who has to live with her Uncle Will, curator of The Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult. A rash of occult-based murders soon comes to light. [Source: Screen Daily]
