Script News: “Kiss”, “Games”, “Smurfs,” “Viking”

The Long Kiss Goodnight 2
Renny Harlin and “Burn Notice” producer/writer Ben Watkins are teaming to pen a sequel to Harlin’s action/comedy “The Long Kiss Goodnight”.

The story will focus on Samantha’s (Geena Davis) now young agult daughter Caitlin who teams up with Samuel L. Jackson’s character Mitch to seek revenge on the people who take her mother’s life. [Source: Film School Rejects]

War Games
Noah Oppenheim has been hired to write the script for the reboot of the classic 1983 cult flick “War Games” at MGM which Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”) is attached to direct.

Oppenheim is a former “Today” show producer whose script “Jackie O” has generated a lot of buzz. [Source: Deadline]

The Smurfs 2
Seems that the script for a sequel to “The Smurfs” was already handed into the studio a few weeks ago by scribes David Stem and David Weiss. [Source: The Hollywood Reporter]

Viking
Karl Gadjusek (“Trespass,” “Oblivion”) has signed on to draft the period drama “Viking” which deals with the transport of Irish slaves by the Norse warriors.

Icelandic helmer Baltasar Kormakur (“Contraband”) is already slated to direct with the tone said to be akin to the likes of “Apocalypto” and “Braveheart”. [Source: Heat Vision]
