Stephen King’s Novella Becomes “Mercy”

Universal Pictures and “Paranormal Activity” producer Jason Blum are teaming for “Mercy,” a fantasy-horror feature based on Stephen King’s short story “Gramma” says Variety.

Published in the 1985 anthology “Skeleton Crew,” the story follows two young boys who, along with their single mother (Frances O’Connor), take care of their elderly, senile grandmother. They discover she’s a witch who made a deal with a dark force years beforehand.

Peter Cornwell (“The Haunting in Connecticut”) directs from a script by Matt Greenberg (“1408”). Blum, McG and Mary Viola will produce.
