CNN Films and Magnolia Pictures has scored US rights to Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s documentary “Blackfish” about the history of orcas in captivity. A Summer theatrical release is planned ahead of a domestic broadcast premiere on CNN later in the year.

Prince Avalanche
David Gordon Green’s quirky tale of an odd-couple of Texas road crew workers (Paul Rudd, Emile Hirsch) has been picked up by Magnolia Pictures. The film has scored very good reviews at the festival.
Toy’s House
CBS Films has acquired U.S. rights to Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ well reviewed and quirky dramedy “Toy’s House” about a group of boys coming of age.
Two Mothers
Exclusive Releasing is closing a deal for U.S. rights to the Anne Fontaine-directed “Two Mothers”. The deal includes a theatrical release and significant P&A and screen commitment, with the film being planned as a specialized Summer release.
We Are What We Are
eOne Distribution has acquired U.S. rights to the cannibalism-themed horror movie “We Are What We Are.” Jim Mickle helmed the film, a remake of Jorge Michel Grau’s movie of the same name.
