TV News: CSI, Arrested, ABC, Who

CSI
Elisabeth Shue has joined the cast of CBS’ veteran crime drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” as the new female lead opposite Ted Danson. Her first appearance will be on the February 15th episode.

Shue’s character is fresh off an anger management course, amid rumors that D.B. Russell (Danson) fired her when she worked for him in Seattle.

Shue steps in to succeed Marg Helgenberger, whose Catherine Willows character is departing in January but is expected to return for occasional guest spots. [Source: Deadline]

Arrested Development
Netflix has won the deal to pick up the new episodes of previously cancelled Fox series “Arrested Development” to air in early 2013.

There is no word yet as to how many episodes Netflix will order. The entire cast is expected to return for the episodes which would precede a movie adaptation. [Source: The Los Angeles Times]

ABC
ABC has announced the midseason premiere dates for its new and returning shows with some big surprises. “Cougar Town” remains off the network’s schedule despite previously being announced for a midseason run.

The network also has yet to schedule its new comedy “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23” and Shonda Rhimes’ political drama “Scandal”. [Source: The Live Feed]

Doctor Who
The BBC have released a promo trailer for this year’s Christmas special which can be watched below. While last year’s was decidedly “A Christmas Carol” inspired, this one seems influenced by C.S. Lewis’ “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe”.

The promo was shown during the BBC’s annual “Children in Need” special during which a specially made sequence featuring Matt Smith as The Doctor stripping off was also screened. That clip can be seen on Youtube.
