The Walking Dead
EW has posted the first photos from the prison location which forms a big part of the upcoming third season of AMC’s zombie drama “The Walking Dead”.
Showrunner Glen Mazzara says “It’s a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven’t seen on any other show as far as construction. What’s important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.” [Source: EW]
True Blood
HBO has announced that they’ve renewed “True Blood” for a sixth season, the first one where Alan Ball will step down as show runner to be succeeded by Mark Hudis.
Though numbers are slightly down from last season, the drop-off is only small and more importantly the show still easily wins the night on cable for the network. [Source: SFX]
Doctor Who
Both Dame Diana Rigg and her real life daughter Rachael Stirling are set to play a mother and daughter “with a dark secret” in an upcoming episode of the seventh season of the BBC’s revival of “Doctor Who”.
Mark Gatiss penned the episode which will occur in the second half of the season with the new companion (Jenna-Louise Coleman) firmly in place by then. [Source: BBC]
The Newsroom
Along with “True Blood”, HBO has also renewed its new Aaron Sorkin-led journalism drama “The Newsroom” for a second season.
The show launched to 2.1 million viewers on its first live outing, though critical reviews for the show have been somewhat mixed. [Source: Seattle P.I.]
