Universal Ditches “Wicked Lovely” Adaptation

Just days after dumping McG and Michael Bay’s “Ouija” adaptation, Universal has now passed on the film adaptation of Melissa Marr’s book series “Wicked Lovely” says Heat Vision.

The story centers on a teenage girl who can see the hidden faery world but confronts danger when not only do the faeries discover her ability, but also when one king decides she must be his bride.

“American Psycho” director Mary Harron was attached to direct the project which Caroline Thompson (“Edward Scissorhands,” “Corpse Bride”) adapted the script for.

While “Ouija” was dumped due to the expense, ‘Wicked’ is being ditched because the project “doesn’t suit their needs” which basically means they’ve lost interest. It also helps that the project wasn’t very far along in development.

Producers Vince Vaughn, Valeri Vaughn and Peter Billingsley are now expected to seek a new home for the property.
