Universal Pictures has picked up John Mann and Jon Gunn’s script pitch for a new live-action adaptation of “The Nutcracker” reports Heat Vision.
In this version the story centers on a 12-year-old girl who, with her brother and sister, receive gifts from their clockmaker-inventor godfather on Christmas Eve, one of which is a Nutcracker doll.
That night, the girl begins an adventure that includes a war involving a seven-headed Mouse King and his army of mice.
Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) will produce. This isn’t to be confused with another ‘Nutcracker’ adaptation setup at New Line in 2009 with Darren Lemke.
