The spring session of the legislature may be extended to deal with a raft of new government bills.
The Liberals have introduced 14 new bills in the past nine days, with more to come this week and only 11 debating days left on the calendar.
The NDP worries the government will cut off debate to get the bills through.
Liberal house leader Rich Coleman says part of problem is that legislative drafters have been focused on the massive task of re-introducing the PST..
He said “so you only have so much capacity and so we do the capacity as best we can.”
Coleman says it’s too early to talk about closure and the legislative session may be extended.
He said “I haven’t ruled out anything yet I mean we only discussed this yesterday.”
Some bills may also be left on the order paper to be debated at a future session, possibly as early as the summer.
