A transit bus has had a tree fall on it on the Lougheed, slightly injuring a baby.

Passengers are counting their blessings after a tree came crashing down on a transit bus on the Lougheed highway today.

Translink spokesperson Erin Dermer says other than a scare almost every passenger was okay except for a slightly injured baby.

She said “we had three ambulances respond at the scene and there was an infant that had superficial injuries the infant has now been released at the scene by the emergency health services and we are currently assessing the bus to see if it driveable at this point in time or if we need to get it towed out of the area.”

Dermer says the roof on the bus was damaged along with a smashed windshield, and some side windows.

The bus was hit by the tree right around noon, near Pitt River road on the Lougheed.
