After body parts in mail: “try to keep calm”

The Vancouver School Board is asking for calm as they try and keep things as normal as possible after the arrival of body parts in the mail.

District spokesperson Kurt Heinrich says they have activated the Crisis Management Team, and counsellors will be on hand, “Right now, our team is assembled and working with the police as well as the administrators on the ground to make sure that we can brief our staff and make sure that we provide them with the information that they need and try our best to manage a really, really difficult situation.”

As for whether or not the District is taking steps to screen the mail in the event more grim surprises are on the way, Heinrich said, “It is something that we are, that we are looking at.”

Heinrich says kids were let go from school as normal and didn’t see the package containing the body part.
