Allegations made against HandyDart operator

Drivers for Translink’s HandyDart service say ever since an American company took over, the service has gone downhill.
The allegations are startling.

Some of HandyDart’s harshest critics are its own drivers.

This one — whose identity we’ve protected — says the people with cognitive and physical disabilities using the service are suffering.

He knows of one case where a man was left waiting so long for a pick-up, that he lost control of his bodily functions.

“I have another lady who two times has been late and she has oxygen and she runs out. It just never stops.”

Last year, there were more than 18,000 service denials on HandyDart — double the limit set by translink.

MVT Canadian Bus — a subsidiary of a California-based company — took over the service in 2009.
