On the same day hearings began into a proposed oil pipeline in BC’s north, the company is reporting a leak in one of its American operations.
The spill, happening in the Gulf of Mexico, about one-hundred kilometres off Louisiana.
Mike Hudema with Greenpeace calls the incident unfortunate, but also timely, “It’s definitely a fairly ominous sign of things to come and a really sober reminder of the toxic effects that pipelines and super-tankers pose to the environment and human health.”
Public hearings into Enbridge’s proposed 5-point-5 billion dollar Canadian operation are slated to last the next 18 months.
