The B-C Conservatives have released a 3-point plan to reform the Legislature and give MLAs greater scrutiny over public spending.
It’s called “Spending Smarter” and includes increasing the number of votes in the Budget Estimates each spring so there is a thorough analysis of financial outlays before they are made.
As well, the Conservatives would establish a new “Legislative Budget Office” to provide MLAs with independent analysis of complex financial and economic data.
And the B-C Conservatives would fundamentally revamp the fall sitting of the Legislature, to shift the focus to review the expenditure of public monies by Government, Crown Corporations, schools, universities, colleges and hospitals.
