The latest jobs numbers paint a rosy picture for BC’s economy.
BC’s unemployment rate in April was 6.2%… down from 7% in March, and from 7.8% in April of last year.
Stats Canada analyst Jason Gilmore says 20,000 jobs were added last month, continuing an upward trend from February 2011.
“The monthly gains are fairly widespread… we see increases in manufacturing employment, natural resources, agriculture, a little bit of an increase in educational services.”
Gilmore adds jobs numbers in BC have been outperforming the national average — and is third best in the country, behind Alberta and Saskatchewan.
