Canada Day celebrations peaceful

Police say two of the major Canada Day celebrations in the Lower Mainland were peaceful.

Vancouver Constable Lindsey Houghton says at the fireworks that capped off the day-long celebrations at Canada Place, was an overwhelming number of families.

Houghton says there were no major incidents.

In terms of public drinking?

“Officers have all commented they’ve seen a little bit less than they have in past years but we’re still catching a few people who either are visitors to the area and may not know, or some locals who should know better.”

It was a similar story at the Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale.
 RCMP Staff Sgt. Bob  Pinkewycz.

“Minimal disturbance.  There was some liquor seized but there was only one arrest during the evening.”
