Predictions of a hundred thousand jobs in the tourism sector and the plan to fill them has the NDP accusing the BC Government of being confused.
Tourism critic Spencer Chandra-Herbert says bringing in more immigrants to fill the jobs doesn’t make sense, “Meanwhile, the immigrants who have arrived here are getting there adult basic education cut so people who want to upgrade their skills so that they can get into these tourism jobs, are actually having their training cut by this very same government which is claiming we need more people to come in who, should they arrive, will find that there education options have been cut.”
Chandra-Herbert says he takes the job numbers forecast with a large grain of salt.
However, he does admit there is a shortage of workers within the tourism industry.
