Cure for the common hangover?

A Vancouver man has put his money where his liver is and created what he believes is a hangover-prevention drink.

Businessman Bradley Friesen has created a series of drinks that he hopes will alleviate the agony that chases a long night of drinking.

“If you put the right things into your body the night before or after you finish drinking, you can reduce the symptoms or alleviate them completely,” he said.

His drinks, called Last Call, contain potassium, magnesium, sodium, and calcium for hydration, prickly-pear cactus to reduce nausea, and artichoke flower and dandelion root for the liver.

It also contains melatonin to help you sleep, ginger to settle your stomach, and vitamins B and C.

He also created two other drinks in the series that you consume prior to drinking alcohol, one gives you energy, while the second is for hydration.

The bottles come complete with a customized cap that releases the ingredients when opened to eliminate oxidants and the need for chemicals and preservatives.

“I want it to be where the drunks are,” said Friesen, who will pitch the drinks on CBC’s Dragons’ Den on March 21 and hopes the drink will eventually be sold in local bars and 7-Elevens.

“People just want to go to bed when they go home after a night of drinking. I want to give them the drink when they’re still open to having another drink.”

At Small Business B.C.’s An Evening With The Dragons’ Den event last Thursday in Vancouver, Friesen and other Dragons’ Den contestants previewed their pitches. He received an overwhelmingly positive response to his drink.

“I had a huge crowd of people around me, wanting,” he said. “People were just blown away.”
