Fires set in Stanley Park

Fire has caused 200-thousand dollars damage to a changeroom facility at Brockton Oval.

That’s one of two arsons in Stanley Park overnight.

The first occured at Malkin Bowl, but didn’t really get going.

Just over an hour later — at 12:45am — another garbage fire spread to the Brockton Oval changeroom facility.

Park board general manager Malcolm  Bromley describes the damage:

“There’s been a burn right through the roof line. We’ll have our fire department come and take a look to ensure that their investigation is finished and we have to take a look at structurally how the building stands right now.”

Several arsons have occurred in the park this year, including one on June 22nd that destroyed the station at the popular miniature train attraction.
